Along with the health and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Alberta business leaders from all across the province are facing enormous business challenges: the collapse of customer demand, federal & provincial restrictions, supply chain uncertainties & disruptions, unemployment, and increased fear among Albertans regarding the health situation.

All of these factors require businesses to take a forward-thinking approach. Like the health and humanitarian sides of the crisis, the business side needs ways to survive and recover. Generally speaking, adhoc responses may not work; both small and medium-sized businesses in Alberta must lay the groundwork for their survival and more importantly their recovery.

The Government of Alberta and Government of Canada are providing some immediate financial relief for businesses, however, businesses must take a forward-thinking approach.

We want to acknowledge that in the province of Alberta we are situated on the traditional territories of Treaties 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10, ancestral homeland of diverse First Nations groups, Métis and Indigenous people whose ancestors have walked this land since time immemorial and whose histories, languages and cultures continue to influence our vibrant community. We pay respects to the Indigenous people of this land, past, present and future, while recognizing their cultural heritage, beliefs, and relationship to the land on which we reside.
