Emergency Preparedness Program
The COVID-19 pandemic, major floods, and wildfires have made businesses aware they need to plan and be prepared for unexpected times and emergencies. The Emergency Preparedness Program will give Alberta entrepreneurs the tools and knowledge they need to mitigate the effects of any future business interruptions.
Program participants will receive a total of 3 hours of one-on-one support from a small business expert and work together to complete a plan that will prepare them for any unexpected events that may lie ahead for their business.

Who Is This Program For?
This program is for existing small businesses in Alberta that want to be ready and prepared for any business interruptions that may arise.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are an Alberta-based business
- You have a registered sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporate business that has been operating for more than one year
- You are actively seeking improvements to your business operations and planning
- You’re willing to commit to 3 one-hour sessions, plus any additional time to work on tasks assigned
Why Should Entrepreneurs Participate?
Entrepreneurs and small business owners will receive a total of 3 hours of one-on-one coaching with a small business expert. As part of these sessions, participants will develop an emergency response plan that will be ready to implement in their business.

There is no financial cost. However, participants are expected to commit a significant amount of time to complete their emergency preparedness plan and any additional work given to them by their strategist.

Applicants will need to meet the eligibility criteria for the program. We will review applications and select businesses that will benefit most from having an emergency plan in place. All applicants will be contacted by a Business Link Strategist to further assist in their business development.
