Céline’s Halliez’s entrepreneurial journey is one of transformation, both personal and professional, as she found a way to leave behind her demanding career as an interior designer to follow her passion for wellness. Now the owner of Authentic Whispers, Céline offers forest therapy and reflexology services that help clients reconnect with themselves and find balance in their busy lives. Let’s take a closer look at her inspiring path to entrepreneurship and what makes her services unique.
“I was feeling a little bit clearer in finding a path – what do I want in life and not want anymore?”
Evelyn: Can you tell us a little bit about your background and what motivated you to start Authentic Whispers?
Céline: My background is in interior design; I spent ten years making welcoming, comforting commercial spaces, but after having kids, I realized that my work-life balance was completely off. My career was demanding, and I needed to focus on my family. That’s when I started to think about how I could blend my passion for wellness with a business. I began training in forest therapy, which really helped me reconnect with myself and sort out my emotions. It gave me clarity about what I wanted in life. From there, I decided to pivot my career entirely. I became a forest therapy guide after completing an immersion program in BC, and I also became a certified reflexologist.

Evelyn: What exactly do you offer at Authentic Whispers, and what makes your services unique?
Céline: I offer two main services: forest therapy and reflexology. Forest therapy is all about connecting with nature, slowing down, and using your senses to really be present. I guide people through walks in beautiful spots around Edmonton, where they can tune into their surroundings and find peace. Each experience is uniquely tailored to my clients, ensuring that no two sessions are the same. I always strive to create a safe, loving space where everyone feels heard and listened to.
Reflexology is a mobile service where I visit clients at home. I love this because it makes it easier for people to prioritize their wellness, especially for those who find it difficult to leave the house. What sets me apart is the personalized, holistic approach. I’m not just helping clients relax—I’m offering them a chance to deeply reconnect with themselves, whether it’s through a walk in the woods or a healing touch.

Evelyn: What have been some of the challenges you’ve faced, and how have you worked through them?
Céline: One of the biggest challenges has been raising awareness for both services. Forest therapy is still a relatively new concept, especially in North America, and a lot of people think it’s just about hugging trees, which it definitely isn’t. It’s about connecting with nature and engaging all your senses. It can be challenging to explain that to people who might not be familiar with it.
Similarly, with reflexology, there’s a stigma around someone touching your feet. But it’s not just a massage; it’s a therapeutic practice that helps with blood circulation, relaxation, stress relief and pain relief. It’s important to educate people on what each service actually involves, which takes time and patience.

Evelyn: How did you first hear about Business Link, and how has your experience been so far?
Céline: I found out about Business Link when I was looking for guidance on how to get my business off the ground. I had the name registered, but I had no idea where to go next. She helped me focus on the right target audience, and I learned so much about setting financial goals and managing my business. It really opened my eyes to what I needed to do to succeed.

Evelyn: What’s next for Authentic Whispers?
Céline: I’m really looking forward to the warmer months and getting outside for more forest therapy sessions. I’m planning to host more outdoor walks and continue offering remotely guided walks, which I started last year. It’s been amazing to connect with clients from across Canada, and I’m planning to offer sessions in French to reach the Francophone community as well. For reflexology, I want to continue growing my client base, as it’s still very much based on word-of-mouth. I love the personal connection I have with my clients, and I want to keep that going as I grow.

Evelyn: If you could give advice to an entrepreneur just starting out, what would you say?
Céline: My advice would be to take it one step at a time. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, especially in the early stages, but there are so many resources out there, like Business Link, that can guide you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and take courses that can help you get clear on your business plan. And don’t let the challenges discourage you—every step you take is progress.
