Client Story: Sort & Simple Professional Organizing

Meet Kaytlyn Beakhouse, the owner and lead organizer at Sort & Simple Professional Organizing, based in Edmonton, Alberta. Kaytlyn transitioned from a career in healthcare to follow her passion for organizing. With a dedication to helping people live more intentionally and joyfully in their spaces, Kaytlyn has made a significant impact in her community through her business.

What initially sparked your interest in starting Sort & Simple?

I had a decade-long career in healthcare, and it was time for me to start a new challenge. I looked at my skills and passions and came up with organizing. Immediately, as I started investigating, I knew that was what I wanted to do.

What do you love most about your business and the work you do?

Initially, when I started organizing, I loved working with clients and seeing them transform and their confidence change. Lately, it’s been exciting to see our team grow and to help other organizers work with clients and experience that as well. Right now, I’m really enjoying training and mentoring other organizers so they can enter this field.

How do you envision your business making a difference in your community or industry?

With Sort & Simple, it’s important to help people live more intentionally—being mindful about what they bring into their spaces and why and being smart about what they want to do with the things they’re ready to let go of. We love to see overwhelmed people live more intentionally and be more joyful in their lives.

As a small business owner, what do you love most about running your business in Alberta?

In Alberta, I love that we support one another as small businesses. It’s wonderful to see so many people supporting local businesses and each other.

How has Business Link helped Sort & Simple?

Through Business Link, I’ve was able to get market research provided to me when I was starting my business. This helped me understand the demographic in our area and learn more about the needs of Albertans. Business Link has made me feel supported and knowing there are resources out there that are free and easy to access.

Can you share any upcoming projects or initiatives you are working towards?

One project we’re really proud of at Sort & Simple is the Rehome Hub. This directory helps Albertans declutter and rehome their items to businesses, charities, and organizations, keeping items out of landfills and finding new homes.

What would you recommend to a small business thinking about using Business Link’s resources?

As a small business owner, it’s easy to feel alone in the journey. Here in Alberta, we have a service that provides free resources and support, and I would encourage you to reach out and ask for help.

With her commitment to intentional living and community support, Kaytlyn Beakhouse is not just organizing spaces but also creating a ripple effect of joy and sustainability through Sort & Simple Professional Organizing.
